In the choice to let go of your known way of being, the whole world is revealed to your new eyes. – Danna Faulds
Mindfulness dates to the Buddha’s time 2,600 years ago, but it’s also a universal practice that anyone can benefit from. Today, it has expanded beyond its historical roots and can be seen in many contexts. It is now broadly used in Western medicine and psychology to reduce stress and anxiety, lift mood, and promote overall health and well-being. Mindfulness is to the mind what physical exercise is to the body: a way to stay fit, flexible, and focused.
Introductory programs are designed to offer you a “taste” of mindfulness or whatever theme is covered, (i.e., mindful eating, self-compassion, stress & resilience) and are usually offered for 1 to 3 hours or a full day in length.
Introductory programs weave experiential practice (guided meditation and reflections), conceptual teaching and inquiry (the opportunity to dialogue or ask questions) into a rich learning experience.
