MSC Workshop Information

What You Can Expect

The Eight-Week MSC program includes eight weekly sessions (2.5 hours each, with the first session 3 hours) plus a 4-hour retreat. No prior meditation experience is needed, though some familiarity with mindfulness can help.

You’ll engage in meditation, guided reflection, body-based practices, and inquiry—a complete, hands-on approach to developing self-compassion and mindfulness that you can use immediately in everyday life.

Learn Self-compassion

Eight-Week MSC Program Themes:

  • What is self-compassion?

  • The misgivings and benefits

  • The physiology of self-compassion & self-criticism

  • Self-compassion and self-esteem

  • Self-criticism and safety

  • Mindfulness & resistance

  • Loving-kindness and motivation

  • Working with difficult emotions (including shame)

  • Core values and meeting unmet needs

  • Challenging relationships, caregiver fatigue, forgiveness, gratitude, and savoring

  • Self-compassion skills and tools to draw upon when you need them most

Short-Course in Mindful Self-Compassion (SC-MSC)

The SC-MSC is a six-week adaptation of the full MSC program, designed to teach a targeted set of practices with a smaller time commitment. It draws on mindfulness and self-compassion skills to build emotional resilience, well-being, and practical coping strategies.

The program includes short talks, experiential exercises, group discussion, and informal home practice, providing a hands-on opportunity to explore how we respond to difficulties and learn to become warm and supportive companions to ourselves.

No prior meditation or mindfulness experience is needed—anyone can participate.

Cost: Online (1 hour/week): $300 + HST

Foundations of Self-Compassion: A Retreat-Style Workshop

This offering draws on key teachings and practices from the Short-Course in Mindful Self-Compassion (SC-MSC).

You’ll be guided through a day of meditation and embodied practices — anchored in mindfulness and self-compassion — interspersed with conceptual teachings and reflective periods of inquiry. There will also be periods of supportive silence to support integration and insight.

This retreat is supportive for those who can’t dedicate the time to a longer program. Excellent for those navigating stress or burnout who want to reconnect with inner resources, anyone looking for tools to soften inner self-talk and perfectionism, professionals who support others and want to replenish their inner reserves, and individuals curious about MSC.

Cost: $250 + HST


Self-Compassion for Health Care Professionals (SCHC)

The SCHC is a 6-hour evidence-based adaptation of the MSC program for healthcare professionals. It teaches mindful self-compassion skills to improve resilience and well-being in the workplace.

Research shows SCHC reduces stress, depression, burnout, and secondary traumatic stress, while increasing self-compassion, mindfulness, compassion for others, and job satisfaction.

Participants learn practical tools to:

  • Care for themselves while caring for others

  • Listen and respond with compassion

  • Handle difficult emotions with greater ease

  • Reconnect with values that give life and work meaning

The program is offered in organizations or private groups, with a minimum of eight participants.

 

Cancellation Policy

Programs open to the public are offered in partnership with Mindfulness at Centrepointe, so registration is processed at mindfulnessatcentrepointe.com

For eight-week programs, a 100% refund will be issued for cancellation requests received up to one week before the start of class.

A refund (minus a $150 processing fee plus HST) will be issued for cancellation requests received up to 3 days before the start of class.

A refund (minus a $300 processing fee plus HST) will be issued for cancellation requests received after the first class. No refunds will be issued after that time.
