MSC Workshop Information

What You Can Expect

The Eight-Week MSC program includes eight weekly sessions (2.5 hours each, with the first session 3 hours) plus a 4-hour retreat. No prior meditation experience is needed, though some familiarity with mindfulness can help.

You’ll engage in meditation, guided reflection, body-based practices, and inquiry—a complete, hands-on approach to developing self-compassion and mindfulness that you can use immediately in everyday life.

Learn Self-compassion

Eight-Week MSC Program Themes:

  • What is self-compassion?

  • The misgivings and benefits

  • The physiology of self-compassion & self-criticism

  • Self-compassion and self-esteem

  • Self-criticism and safety

  • Mindfulness & resistance

  • Loving-kindness and motivation

  • Working with difficult emotions (including shame)

  • Core values and meeting unmet needs

  • Challenging relationships, caregiver fatigue, forgiveness, gratitude, and savoring

  • Self-compassion skills and tools to draw upon when you need them most

Short-Course in Mindful Self-Compassion (SC-MSC)

The SC-MSC is a six-week adaptation of the full MSC program, designed to teach a targeted set of practices with a smaller time commitment. It draws on mindfulness and self-compassion skills to build emotional resilience, well-being, and practical coping strategies.

The program includes short talks, experiential exercises, group discussion, and informal home practice, providing a hands-on opportunity to explore how we respond to difficulties and learn to become warm and supportive companions to ourselves.

No prior meditation or mindfulness experience is needed—anyone can participate.

Cost: Online (1 hour/week): $300 + HST


Self-Compassion for Health Care Professionals (SCHC)

The SCHC is a 6-hour evidence-based adaptation of the MSC program for healthcare professionals. It teaches mindful self-compassion skills to improve resilience and well-being in the workplace.

Research shows SCHC reduces stress, depression, burnout, and secondary traumatic stress, while increasing self-compassion, mindfulness, compassion for others, and job satisfaction.

Participants learn practical tools to:

  • Care for themselves while caring for others

  • Listen and respond with compassion

  • Handle difficult emotions with greater ease

  • Reconnect with values that give life and work meaning

The program is offered in organizations or private groups, with a minimum of eight participants.

 

Cancellation Policy

Programs open to the public are offered in partnership with Mindfulness at Centrepointe, so registration is processed at mindfulnessatcentrepointe.com

For eight-week programs, a 100% refund will be issued for cancellation requests received up to one week before the start of class.

A refund (minus a $150 processing fee plus HST) will be issued for cancellation requests received up to 3 days before the start of class.

A refund (minus a $300 processing fee plus HST) will be issued for cancellation requests received after the first class. No refunds will be issued after that time.
